Although the original idea of producing an animal was well within the scope of the artist’s existing portfolio he had rarely produced life sized work. His wolf (lupus) was a statement made to fit in with the natural environment, whilst dressing it in raw shawn wool from local sheep was a political reflection on Tony (Anthony) Blair, a wolf in sheep’s clothing. As the wool shredded and dissipated on the almost continuously windswept hillside, so too was its ultimate demise a reflection on the decline of Mr Blair.
